Review: Cokolwiek wybierzesz

Obraz
Cokolwiek wybierzesz by Jakub Szamałek My rating: 4 of 5 stars Przyznam, że długo zbierałam się do tej książki. Dziennikarka zost...

Review: His and Hers

Obraz
His and Hers by Alice Feeney My rating: 5 of 5 stars Wow! That was something! I must say that this story took me guessing till the very end and it doesn't happen often :) There are two main characters, but truth is there are stories of many others. I can't really say much, as any detail could spoil the pleasure of reading the book, but you should get ready for some really shocking details. Reading the book, I've had some ideas about who the murderer is, but the actual murderer took me by surprise. I don't think there'll be a continuation of this book, but some secrets were left hidden and someone may dig them up one day. Is there a happy end in this book? Sort of, but not without something left hanging in the air, something left unsaid. After reading the first book by Alice Feeney - Sometimes I Lie - I was left stunned, the second book was ok, but not amazing. This one? Damn, absolutely the best, so far :) View all ...

Review: Station Eleven

Obraz
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel My rating: 4 of 5 stars I honestly don't know what to say about this book. I've finished it over the weekend and still don't know what to say. I also can't give it five stars, as I feel something is missing in this story. Not sure what, though. 4,5 stars should be a fair rating. I loved how this story is written. It's not straight forward, but everything connects. Everything clicks in the end. I guess there's even a little bit of hope left in the end. Some sort of opening. Reading this particular book during a pandemic felt a bit odd. Still, I think the general message was that humans can co-operate in hard times. I don't know, maybe it's more of my interpretation. There's a difference between now and situation from the book, as we, as people, are doing a bit better. At least for now. It's crazy how quickly things can fall apart in times of pandemic. It'd hard to beli...

Review: The Wave

Obraz
The Wave by Virginia Moffatt My rating: 2 of 5 stars I'm a bit disappointed with this book. I mean, I didn't expect anything amazing, but this is just plain boring. From the description, I've expected that there'll be some more action, that something will happen and that it will be a quicker read. Well, what I got was same thing shared from different povs. First some intro, then some more background, then some emotional crap and finally the ending. Several people were sitting at the beach, waiting for the tsunami to hit them and retrospecting their lives. Some got along better than others, some left, some wanted forgiveness from those that will be left alive. It's not a bad book, but it does not deserve more than two stars. If I didn't read it, I wouldn't miss much. It could be better with more action, better character building and it would do without some really odd people. So my general opinion of this book is meh. ...

Review: This Is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor

Obraz
This Is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor by Adam Kay My rating: 3 of 5 stars Najpierw przeczytałam drugą część opowieści pana doktora. View all my reviews
