It's a little bit difficult to review this book, as it's not really a book you read, but more of a coffee table book. It's something that you mostly look at. The pictures are stunning. Some of them made me want to teleport to that very spot then and there. It's a book filled with short descriptions of places and events that made people experience something amazing, something else. What stroke me in this book is the fact that most of those described experiences are not wheelchair accessible. It's my point of view, as a wheelchair user, so not sure if anyone else would have thought about it. Still, it's an interesting collection of short stories - or rather descriptions - written by people, who experienced something important in their lives, during their travels. Sometimes travel can be life-changing.

The Little Book of Sloth Philosophy by Jennifer McCartney My rating: 5 of 5 stars I think this is going to be a book, that I'll be giving as a gift to everyone :) Not that it's so deep and profound, but because it shows how to live simply. It's also funny and short. Perfect for reading in pieces or as a whole. Illustrations are super cute, too. And there's of course sloth - most adorable role model ever. He lives his life slowly, but that's the point - take your time, be good to yourself, screw what others think. So you know - live slow die whenever. Great stuff! View all my reviews

Pill by Robert Bennett My rating: 5 of 5 stars *I have received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher" I've requested this book, thinking that it's about how pills were created. It has turned out that it's something else, something so much better! The author tells the story of the Pill, the One that we pop every day (at least once), to be happy. Or chill, or fall asleep, or whatever. It's our new religion - psychopharmacology. Robert Bennett has a bit odd way of telling this story - he's showing us how the meds work through a series of examples: literature and movies mostly. It can be slightly annoying at times, but overall it makes the book easier to read. I truly enjoyed how the author is telling the story and how he's asking the questions about our reality/society. It's a book placed in the USA, but I believe it could be about any given civilised country. Psychotropic meds are gaining its popularity,...
