Review: Fireproof

It's definitely not a superb book, but it's a fun Summer read. I have never read any other books by Alex Kava before, so wasn't sure what to expect. I mean I've realised it's more of a quick read, nothing deep and I was quite right. It's the tenth book in a series, but it can be read as a solo novel. The little background is provided and it's enough in my opinion.
The story in the book is pretty simple - mysterious fires, murders and emotionally complicated, but brave FBI agent. Oh and there's this fame-hungry journalist, who will do anything to get attention. You can guess the rest, cause I did pretty quickly.
Explanations in the book are quite short and obvious. Characters are pretty flat. Still, it was fun, so 2.5 stars is a decent rating.

The Little Book of Sloth Philosophy by Jennifer McCartney My rating: 5 of 5 stars I think this is going to be a book, that I'll be giving as a gift to everyone :) Not that it's so deep and profound, but because it shows how to live simply. It's also funny and short. Perfect for reading in pieces or as a whole. Illustrations are super cute, too. And there's of course sloth - most adorable role model ever. Pill by Robert Bennett My rating: 5 of 5 stars *I have received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher" I've requested this book, thinking that it's about how pills were created. It has turned out that it's something else, something so much better! The author tells the story of the Pill, the One that we pop every day (at least once), to be happy. Or chill, or fall asleep, or whatever. It's our new religion - psychopharmacology. Robert Bennett has a bit odd way of telling this story - he's showing us how the meds work through a series of examples: literature and movies mostly. It can be slightly annoying at times, but overall it makes the book easier to read. I truly enjoyed how the author is telling the story and how he's asking the questions about our reality/society. It's a book placed in the USA, but I believe it could be about any given civilised country. Psychotropic meds are gaining its popularity,...
