Review: My Boyfriend Is a Bear

Obraz
My Boyfriend Is a Bear by Pamela Ribon My rating: 2 of 5 stars *I have received this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review* What can I say? It's ok drawing-wise, cute and all. The story, though? What is it about? I see a lot of confusion in other reviews and I can agree with them. I, too, am confused. Is it about love between species or metaphor of interracial love? Is it about something else? I'll tell you one thing - it's odd and I mean ODD. The bear is cute, but I don't like hairy dudes ;) View all my reviews

Review: Pill

Obraz
Pill by Robert Bennett My rating: 5 of 5 stars *I have received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher" I've requested this book, thinking that it's about how pills were created. It has turned out that it's something else, something so much better! The author tells the story of the Pill, the One that we pop every day (at least once), to be happy. Or chill, or fall asleep, or whatever. It's our new religion - psychopharmacology. Robert Bennett has a bit odd way of telling this story - he's showing us how the meds work through a series of examples: literature and movies mostly. It can be slightly annoying at times, but overall it makes the book easier to read. I truly enjoyed how the author is telling the story and how he's asking the questions about our reality/society. It's a book placed in the USA, but I believe it could be about any given civilised country. Psychotropic meds are gaining its popularity,...

Review: The Invisible War: A Tale on Two Scales

Obraz
The Invisible War: A Tale on Two Scales by Ailsa Wild My rating: 4 of 5 stars *I've had a pleasure to read this book thanks to NetGalley* This book, ladies and gents, is a really good one! Well, it's a graphic novel, actually. Anyway, it tells an amazing story of a young nurse during a WWI, who is fighting on two fronts - one is helping soldiers, who got hurt and the other is a fight with her organism. This novel shows the internal fight of the organism in a truly amazing way. I love how it is both easy to understand and very educational. I love the setting and the black and white drawings. It's truly beautiful. View all my reviews

Review: Żniwa zła

Obraz
Żniwa zła by Robert Galbraith My rating: 4 of 5 stars Następna świetna historia o moim ulubionym detektywie.

Review: Homer and the Holiday Miracle: A True Story

Obraz
Homer and the Holiday Miracle: A True Story by Gwen Cooper My rating: 3 of 5 stars It's a cute little story. A bit too short for me, but made me want to read some more about the author's life with cats. Especially as special ones as Homer. This book shows a miracle and power of love, which is truly adorable. A good read for an afternoon around Christmas. View all my reviews
